In designing the St. James apartment he has lived in for 13 years (soon to be moving out to a stone and clapboard 1925 cottage house in the Castlewood neighborhood) Jenkins casually says, "I think you kind of throw together things you like and it kind of works."  Therefore, Jenkins believes, "if you love it, buy it."  Not only does this set you in the direction of creating a room that doesn't look decorated or contrived, but a common thread will start to show in your choices.  For Jenkins the common thread is his love of French style.  "I'm really smitten with that whole French '20s, '30s, and '40s era."  For instance, in the library, one of Jenkins' favorite furniture pieces is the French 1920s desk and two chairs.

The desk and chairs are French 1925.  Jenkins covered the chairs in a velvet woven in a window pane pattern by Great Plains from Holly Hunt.  Jenkins purchased the desk from Howard Wagner of Century Shop and the chairs from Ronnie Doggett.  In the background, one of the four leaded glass bay windows in the house can be seen.
