Another common thread is Jenkins' taste for classic design.  In describing one of his favorite designers from the 1970s, an era he says produced some of the best designs of all times, Jenkins just as well could be talking about himself.  "I can't think of any room Billy Baldwin has done that doesn't look as fresh today as it did then."  Without realizing the similarities, Jenkins continues, "He would do things that weren't being done, like putting ticking or leather on French chairs.  He simplified, using the finest furniture.  He sort of freed things. It was all about comfort," says Jenkins.

Much like the time Jenkins removed all the wallpaper in the living room.  Jenkins sat in the room looking at the exposed walls thinking about what to put on them.  In this time Jenkins saw the beauty of the bare walls and left them in their raw state.  Using the old rugged walls as the backdrop for Jenkins elegant furnishings is a contrast Jenkins appreciates.  Subtleties are also important to Jenkins and can be seen in the simple muslin fabric he chose for the draperies in the living room.

Living Room
After removing layers of wallpaper, Jenkins left the walls in their raw state, finding beauty in their rugged nakedness.  Jenkins appreciates the dramatic contrast of the walls to the elegant furnishings in the room. The starburst mirror is a copy from Albert Hadley's personal collection made by Baker. The love seat is 1920's American.  The chairs are copies of mid-19th century Napoleon III that Jenkins and Dottie Cherry found at a Paris flea market.  "They move around so well when I have a lot of guests," says Jenkins.  The curtains are muslin with a cotton tassel trim.  The wrought iron side table Jenkins designed.  The coffee table is a contemporary English tole (French for tin) with a chinoiserie pattern on top.
