Holly Gregor is a freelance writer living in Louisville, Kentucky.  Gregor writes only on interior design, a passion she acquired after buying their first home.  Married with a 5 year old son, Gregor grew up in Austin, Texas and lived in Orange County, California for 11 years working as a television reporter.  After having their son, she pursued freelance writing, a more flexible career, allowing her to stay home. What Gregor loves about interior design is the combination of creativity and personal expression reflecting ones personality and lifestyle.   If you have a particular question for Holly or would like to see an article on a particular topic, you may contact her by e-mail at HollyGregor@CottagesandGardens.com

Over the years, Jenkins has designed residences in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Florida, California, and even a skin care center on 5th Avenue for Tish McEvoy.  Without question Jenkins' worldly exposure has influenced the design style he practices today.  And although his designs display an open-minded approach, Jenkins does not like to be categorized as a designer.  The best compliment Jenkins says he can receive is that his clients really like something that he's done and that it's very comfortable.  Also important is that it magnifies them.  "It really is a job to get to know the client and not to push your taste on them."  With that straightforward honesty, Jenkins admits, "I've had so many scares in my life, and only once did they throw furniture out the front door."

Living Room Pieces
The Biedermeier desk has pen work (quill pen and black ink) on the drawers and the lid.  The lid depicts a pastoral scene.  The French Directoire stool is covered in a Scalamandre fabric.  The table in foreground is 1820's Biedermeier.  The polished iron urn is French mid-19th century waxed with black wax giving it a rich patina.  The smaller urn on top of the desk is circa 1800 from Barrflight and Barr, a well-known English porcelain company.  The portrait is English 1840.
