Structured Elegance |
|
When Megan went off to college, they decided to move into this condominium with less upkeep allowing them to spend more free time traveling. "When we moved in, we were in the position to do what we wanted to." However, some sacrifices were made. For instance, in place of an expensive antique rug in the living room Michael Hoskins attached a beautiful rich English wool border to a simple piece of green carpet. "It works really well in the scheme of things," says Michael Hoskins.
In the same room, the tone-on-tone green striped wallpaper envelopes you creating a very cozy room. However, the wallpaper wasn't put up until they lived in the house a couple of years. When they moved in Michael Hoskins had the walls painted green. Realizing the paint wasn't giving him the effect he wanted, off came the pictures and up went the wallpaper. "Wallpaper just gives you a look no paint can give you," explains Michael Hoskins. Back went the pictures, and now the room has the depth and texture he was looking for, albeit very subtle.

Living Room |
"I love it all," says Michael Hoskins, which is evident by the living room walls covered with collections he and Deb have picked up on their travels. The wallpaper is a green, tone-on-tone, Regency stripe paper by Osborne & Little. Deb's needlepoint graces the sofa by Hickory Chair. The lamps are Italian, the coffee table is English and some of the accessories and stool are French. The green rug is a regular piece of carpet with an English wool border surrounding it giving it a touch of elegance. |
