Creating A Jewel

"I suppose I'm European at heart," she says of her decorating style.  "I love England and I enjoy old things."

Ridge also enjoys nature and natural surroundings.  Some of her accents include botanical prints, the use of stone and wood in the flooring and fireplaces, and even taxidermy.

"They're just so beautiful.  It really captures a moment in time," she says of the "stuffed" animals.  "The most beautiful things are natural things, created by God. He's the best designer of all."

Of Ridge's own design business, she credits Julie Ensor of Anchorage with inspiring her and encouraging her to go with her instincts.  "Anytime I had a question as to what I should do or what would look right, whenever I had troubles with making decisions, I knew I could take it to Julie," Ridge says.  "She's my idol and my mentor."

Kitchen
The children's artwork (her sons') hangs on the wall and adds colorful fun. The tile design on the backsplash features a sheep and a horse, another nod to English country style.
