Christmas For Her Family

The key to the efficiency of doing this much work is how everything is stored away.  "I learned years ago the packing away is as important as the putting out," explains Parkinson. "Every room is self contained and has their own boxes - and some trees never get undecorated.  I make great big cotton sleeves to cover them and put them up in the attic."

Don Parkinson does help out every year stringing the lights on the living room Christmas tree and takes care of sending out the Christmas cards, something he enjoys doing and in which he takes great pride.  As for doing things together, different ideas can cause some stress.  When something is not done to "your" standard, Parkinson's advice: "When the kids are helping and the husband helps, it's not "your" standard, it's "our" standard."

Even the basement gets its own Christmas tree and decorations.
