About the Designer
Tracee Dore Brown
Dore grew up in the building business. Her father was a homebuilder in Ohio and taught her early on how to problem solve. The designers that can solve problems are the good ones, says Dore.
Dore credits her father with the success she has had in her own business. Along with a good education (University of Kentucky majoring in interior design) and creativity, Dore has a knack for being able to read people. I try to get into my client's head. When I'm putting a scheme together I try to design as if they had all the resources and creativity to do it themselves, says Dore.
I read Kathie a lot of different ways, Dore explained. She was a career woman, and now I can tell she's a wonderful mother. I read that she wanted a very warm place to live because she was going to be there most of the day. Kathie also knows what she likes and doesn't like. She can make decisions.
Something else Dore picked up on was how much respect Kathie Bulvin and Jeff Bulvin have for each other. Kathie's job is just as important as Jeff's, said Dore. They are a team!
Dore's first impression of Jeff Bulvin was how professional he is. Jeff wanted an impressive home that he can be proud of. Yet Dore knew not to make it over the top so people still feel comfortable in their home. Everyone wants to be here. I think because it's warm and cozy, said Jeff Bulvin.
Obviously Dore's father taught her a lot about the business that stays with her everyday. Something else that is with Dore daily is her father's spirit helping her step-by-step build her business. Three years ago, Dore's father was killed in an automobile accident and in honoring him, Dore took her father's advice and named her business Tracee L. Dore Interior Design. He always told me, if you're proud of what you do, put your name on it.
